Rhino found dead in Kaziranga National Park

On Thursday, One-horned Rhinoceros was found dead in Kaziranga National Park. The Rhino was suspected to have died due to old age sickness.

As a result of this death, there have been 40 Rhinoceros fatalities as part of UNESCO’s heritage park this year.

It was believed to have succumbed to natural causes, according to the sources at the national park. In a report, it was stated that sometimes the rhino was facing difficulty in moving fastly and, had also lost its teeth.

Also, the Director of Kaziranga National Park told that the veterinarians did the health check-up along with the proper medical treatment being provided to the rhino. The Rhino was under medical observation as it was 30 years old, and lost its teeth along with the movement which was also slowed than earlier.

To deduce the cause of the death, the samples of the animal’s dead body were also collected to send to the Wildlife Institute of India (WII), Dehradun, the report added.

About 80 to 90 percent of deaths are witnessed every year in Kaziranga National Park due to various reasons. The Average lifespan of a rhino is 25 to 27 years. Additionally, the degradation of grass quality and changes in low-lying areas that hold water also contribute to the death of rhinos and other animals.

In addition to this, Assam’s CM also shared the clip of the incident in which a rhino was getting hit by a truck which triggered outrage after the video went viral on social media. Trying to cross the road, the animal ran directly into a speeding truck in the video.
