According to a report, more than 60 percent of the entire population of one-horned rhinoceros in the world is found in Kaziranga National Park. Spread over an area of 430 square kilometres, this park is located in Assam. It is also the only national park in Assam. It has been declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. This national park very spectacular in terms of wildlife sightings. The greenery and variety of animals and birds attract thousands of tourists every year.
Various species of eagles and parrots are also found in Kaziranga. Apart from this, here you will also find dangerous snakes like elephants, Indian buffalo, deer, sambar, bear, tiger, cheetah, wild cat, hog badger, hookock gibbon, wolf, porcupine, dragon and king cobra. In winter season, many birds also come here from Siberia.
Kaziranga National Park, situated on the banks of the mighty Brahmaputra River, is surrounded by ancient temples, pure water springs and lush green tea gardens. The park is also called the home of the Royal Bengal Tigers. Tourists who come here feel a lot of joy.
The rich variety of vegetation found in Kaziranga also attracts tourists visiting here every year. Evergreen forests are found here. Also, the aquatic vegetation found here such as lotus, hyacinth and water lily etc. make the environment of this place very beautiful.
Kaziranga National Park is located 250 km east of Guwahati and 97 km west of Jorhat. The nearest railway station is 75 km from here. To get to Kaziranga, you will also get regular state government buses or you can also book a taxi.
