Kaziranga National Park: Face to Face Encounter with Rhino
From the very first moment you set foot on Kaziranga National Park you get the vibes that you are going to experience the best wildlife. Love at the first sight and Kaziranga has so many charms that you will never want to leave any sooner. Sightings of Rhino are a first priority for tourists when they are in Kaziranga.
The deadly view of Rhinos is feasible only when you have deep knowledge of the forests or your tour operator and guide knows the important areas where Rhino sightings are maximum and other preferable wild animals.
Kaziranga Rhino Sighting zones
The Kaziranga National Park is constituted with the divisions of four tourism zones that include Central Zone or Kaziranga zone, Western Zone or Bagori Zone, Eastern Zone or Agaratoli Zone and the Burapahar Zone. The Jeep Safari is available for every zone while the Elephant Safari is available only in the Central Zone and the Western Zone.
Best Safari zone for spotting Rhino
For spotting Rhino the elephant safari to western zone (Bagori) is the most suggested tourism zone in Kaziranga as the scenery of this zone offers the chance to get the very close sight of the one-horned Rhino. In all, I did 4 safaris – 3 in a jeep and 1 on elephant back. The Kaziranga view is better looking at the elephant’s back. For elephant safari, one has to go on board a little early in the morning. The early morning mist witnesses a candid view of Rhino more easily.
One thing you should also be aware of is that other safari zones are as well important and their behavior and popularity depends on Rhino sightings. At one moment Kohora or the Central Range is good enough for sighting while at other moments other zones are gaining all attention. Probability could be anything in terms of Rhino sightings.
