The Assam forest department is facing a new challenge in safeguarding diverse wild animal species. The forest officials tracked down the remains of several wild animals along with the leopard skins in the Nagaon district of Assam on Wednesday.
The Sources obtained from the forest department says that it has been found that the authorities of the Nagaon Forest Division were on operation in the nearby forested areas of Kaziranga National Park i.e., Kampur and Doboka Namati and they discovered that the body parts of several wild animals along with the leopard and pangolin skins are tracked down in the forested area of Kaziranga.
Having found convicted of the crime, the forest officials also detained four people and lodged a case connected with repossession.
As per the information received from Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Head of the Forest Forces, an operation is being initiated for safeguarding the wild animals of Kaziranga.
After the information was received from the Doboka Namati, the leopard and the pangolin skins were seized which weighed up to 10 to 12 kg as told by the forest officials.
