News update, Assam: The iconic and Unesco World Heritage National Park in Assam is set to welcome tourists from Wednesday, October 21 onwards, after eight months of long break due to the Covid-19 pandemic and flood in monsoon season.

As the central government has announced unlock 5 the economy limps back to normalcy in Assam, the state government has decided to start tourism activity in Kaziranga National Park for tourists from October 21.

This was the most awaited news for the wildlife lovers as the National Park and Tiger Reserves at various parts of the country are finally reopening, thanks to curbing of lockdown restrictions.

The reopening ceremony has been scheduled at 11 AM on Wednesday with Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal as he chief guest for the ceremony.

However, due to the inclement weather and road condition inside the National Park, only Jeep Safari at Kaziranga range, Kohora and Western Range, Bagori would be open for tourists.

Elephant ride in Kaziranga National Park will not be allowed for tourists until further notification by the authorities.
